Hey all, So after fixing up this outboard by myself and youtube help, i finally got it running after 2 years. Have been on the water for around 7 weekends now and finally after trusting the motor decided it was time to go out further to the islands and just getting off the boat ramp (extremely slow moving) it died, sat there on anchor for around an 1 hr got it to start on many occasions and ...I have a 2005 90hp 2 stroke Johnson carbed outboard. I pre-mix the fuel and oil, and still have the original fuel / oil pump with the oil side disconnected and plugged properly. My problem is at low RPMs, about at "no wake" speed. Then after about 20 secs a little water will trickle out. Then every so often a stream of water for about 5 secs then it will go back to a trickle.It is tight when the engine is cold but opens, ever so slightly when the engine heats up. When the gap opens, the air/fuel mixture, which passes through the crankcase on two-stroke engines, leans out to the point where the engine dies. When the engine cools and the gap tightens, the engine will run again. Maddening.
