Hi jobe, originally the 601 series had a Proofmeter, an oil pressure, temp gauge a fuel gauge and a generator / alternator light, no ammeter, a temp gauge is definitely more important then an ammeter or if you prefer the ammeter then remove the fuel gauge.With a 601 having three separate compartments it's possible it has SAE 80-90 in the trans and diff and only have hydraulic oil in the hydraulic system, my 801 still has 80-90 in the diff. Smell test will give one a good idea on whats leaking, engine oil, 80-90 and hydraulic oil all have different smells. 62 Ford 881D. 69 Ford 4000. 72 Ford 4000SU.
