I agree I think it's to make the 4.8 and 5.3 a little more peppy and sound aggressive. If you are going to go through the expense of a cam swap I'd suggest going a little bigger. 5.3 S10 swap idle issue. Just swapped a L33 in my 99 S10 . engine has LS6 intake with cable throttle, BTR Truck Norris cam in 3 inch air intake. I opted for true-roller.Pro Stock John. 430-450rwhp out of a cam only combo like that is very doable with a 230/244 ish cams. If you do all the little tricks you can increase that. I made 470rwhp with a GPI VVT SS3, hand ported Bo White heads, RCR rod mod LS3 intake, Powerbond under drive pulley, Hooker 1 7/8, 3" exhaust, 160 stat, pump gas.I am running the "Truck Norris" cam by Brian Tooley Racing. I have attached the cam card. The heads were milled .003 with new valve seats and new valves. No further wark was performed to the heads. The converter is a 3000 stall lockup converter by FTI. i have also attached information about the converter.
